No matter what type of work you do, it can be challenging to stay motivated.
Some days, I have back-to-back appointments and feel like I’m constantly on the go. On other days, things are a little slower, and it can be easy to get distracted or lose focus. But over the years, I’ve developed a few strategies to help me stay motivated and on track.
One of the things that helps me stay motivated is having a clear sense of purpose. As a notary, my job is to help people with important legal documents, and that’s something that I take very seriously. Whenever I start to feel a little sluggish, I remind myself that I’m making a difference in someone’s life. Whether it’s helping a couple get married or finalizing a business deal, I know that my work matters.
Another thing that helps me stay motivated is having a routine. I’ve found that this helps me stay focused and avoid distractions. In my business, however, no two days look exactly alike and I have to be flexible to meet with clients at their preferred time. So, I do my best to maintain a routine while also going with the flow. I start my day with a version of “The Miracle Morning”, breakfast, then on to my appointments and tasks for the day. By having a routine, I can manage my time better.
I also like to set small goals for myself and celebrate my wins. Maybe it’s learning a new skill to help me grow my business, or squeezing in an extra appointment. By setting achievable goals, I feel a sense of accomplishment and stay motivated to keep going.
And of course, it’s important to take care of myself. Whether it’s going for a walk, or just taking a few minutes to relax and read a book, I make sure to carve out time for self-care. By taking care of myself, I’m better able to stay focused and motivated throughout the day.
Finally, I find inspiration in the people I meet. Every day, I have the opportunity to meet new people and hear their stories. From newlyweds to business owners, everyone has a unique journey, and it’s an honor to be a small part of it. I find that being around positive and supportive people is a game-changer for me, but as a solopreneur, I have to work at this a little harder, so I love to listen to podcasts and read books that remind me to keep going.
So, if you are struggling to stay motivated in your own work, remember that it’s all about finding your purpose, sticking to a routine, setting achievable goals, taking care of yourself, and finding inspiration in the people around you.
